Wasted

Did you know that over the last year alone in America over 100 BILLION pounds of EDIBLE food was wasted? That's not eaten, thrown away, wasted in restaurants, and homes. Shocking isn't it. There aren't many words that I can say after I write this. so many feelings and emotions come over me and I'm so speechless. I can honestly say that I am one of the millions that have contributed to this waste, ans it makes me so mad. Do you remember when we were little and our parents would tell us to finish our food becasue there were starving kids in Africa, well there are but guess what, there are just as many here in America that we forget and ignore. Thousands of children every year go hungry from lack of food and sustanance, and America ignores it all.
Luckily this problem isn't going totally unnoticed. There are hundreds of new programs out there that are starting up to help alleviate this problem, and thank God there are.
Citities are starting summer feeding programs to help kids get food during the summer, churches are supporting their local areas and doing feeding as well. Gardens are bring planted to help boost local economy and provides income for low income families.

Now many of you may be asking what does this have to do with us? Well everyone everywhere can get involved in one way or another. YOu can start a local garden in your backyard of an empty lot in your city and grow food, vegetables that are organic and healthy and sell them and eat them. You can buy from local food markets, farm markets and support all the local farmers instead of buying from grocery stores that don't provide healthy local food. So get out there and get involved today.
