Here are some pictures from Apple Country Orchards outside of Lubbock, TX. While there, we not only were able to pick fresh apples to eat but we learned about the orchard's involvement in the local school systems, CSA program to promote fresh produce eating in the area, how pesticides and hormones in produce affect our health and how food fresh from the earth can take on more roles than just providing us nourishment! We taste-tested honey and heard from Cal (farm owner) about how he is using his knowledge and voice to help make sure ALL people, no matter what their income, can have access to fresh food.
