Adventure or Inconvenience?

"An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." J.K. Chesterton

From day 1 so many "adventures" we've had as a group could have definitely been considered an inconvenience but by the grace of the Lord and his divine power, he put together a group of 7 amazing girls who have been blessed with hosts and people to help them along their way across Texas while having an adventure, indeed! From killing a chicken to being completely spoiled in Lubbock by such wonderful people, I praise the Lord every moment on this Journey!

I have really enjoyed being able to see the hearts of the people who work at the South Plains Food Bank in Lubbock, TX. Their willingness to take care of 7 girls they didn't at all know just shows their hearts for the hungry people in their own community. They are phenomenal people, indeed! It has been amazing to see the Lord working in so many ways to let our group know he is with us! Going to church this morning was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to attend Second Baptist Church in Lubbock where the Lord is doing amazing things with their congregation and new pastor! Such sweet and beautiful people who welcomed us with open arms and smiles. Ending the time with a group prayer with the pastor and Director of the Food Bank was beautiful, allowing us to press on in the journey of hunger relief!

So far this week I have learned so much about urban gardening, farmer markets, summer lunch programs and more, I wonder "where have I been the last 22 years of my life." There is so much good to be done by these programs to help hungry kiddos as well as educated them on the importance of eating fresh, healthy food. This isn't only from the teens and kids but also for the adults and college students! I encourage everyone to really think and come up with ideas on how to help the people in your community with this issue. Rather if it's buying from local farmers, starting a community garden with your church or starting one of your own! The need and demand is there for it all! Seeing how churches and communities have come together so far in Waco and Lubbock, I can only hope and pray my own home town does this and I will pray my own church will one day do the same!

Keep us in your prayers!
